Individuals
Many people feel uncomfortable with the idea of therapy. This is completely normal. Seeking help from another person, revealing personal information, and exploring thoughts and feelings that may otherwise be pushed away are all anxiety-provoking experiences. However, it is important to keep in mind that it is the vary act of facing these fears and vulnerabilities that lead to change and make therapy effective.
As an individual psychotherapist my initial goal is to create a respectful, supportive, and honest relationship. I check in with clients often during sessions and encourage feedback. I want to get a sense of how your problem is experienced internally and expressed externally. Developing this kind of working relationship is what allows us to address issues that most likely bring up a lot of different, and perhaps difficult, thoughts and feelings. Through this therapeutic process one can:
- Embark on the process of self-discovery
- Identify wants and needs and how to best achieve them
- Understand unconscious patterns and beliefs
- Utilize the therapeutic relationship to bring forth insight about patterns of relating
- Unlock authenticity
- Acknowledge their emotional life and trust the information it provides
- Develop self-love and compassion
- Identify innate capacities for healing and growth
